Garner pulls away from GRACE in John Wall opener

Raleigh, N.C. — Garner was able to pull away from GRACE Christian 84-51 behind a strong second quarter on Thursday afternoon in the John Wall Holiday Invitational.
Both teams were looking to score in transition to start the game.
Garner was able to force turnovers and get easy looks on offense but GRACE hung around and only trailed 16-11 after a late Garner run to end the first quarter.
The tides of the game changed before halftime.
The Trojans started to dominate the glass in the second quarter. Second chance opportunities allowed Garner to continuously built its lead throughout the quarter.
The defense of the Trojans held GRACE in check and Garner increased its five point lead in the first to 41-22 heading into the halftime break.
The Trojans kept its foot on the gas in the second half.
Garner’s press disrupted GRACE and allowed the Trojans to continue to force turnovers. The Trojans outscored the Eagles 20-10 in the third quarter and took a sizable lead into the final quarter of play.
The pace continued to be back and fourth and the Eagles could not keep up. Garner was able to win the final quarter and eventually win the game by 33 points.
Garner was led by a balance attack all afternoon. Three guys scored in double figures for the Trojans with AJ Daniels scoring 14, Asa White scoring 13 and Ben Hines scoring 12.
GRACE Christian was led by Wake Forest commit Jaylen Gibson who scored 10 points in the game.
