Gloria Cash is the new head volleyball coach at Charlotte Latin. She begins her new job July 1.
"We are excited to welcome Coach Cash to Charlotte Latin," Hawks athletics director David Gatoux said. "In addition to her solid playing and coaching background, Gloria brings with her a transformational coaching philosophy in which care for each team member is the central focus. This aligns remarkably well with Charlotte Latin’s mission, beliefs, and core values."
Cash, who will also teach physical education, replaces Ellen Kazura, who resigned recently as volleyball coach and the school’s sports information director.
Cash was a four-year scholarship player at Embry-Riddle University and started coaching during her college playing career. She has high level club coaching experience giving private lessons and coaching on the 18U National level at Florida Elite and most recently, on the 15U National level at Carolina Juniors Volleyball in Charlotte.
"Gloria is a great fit for our program and the culture of excellence that has been the foundation of Latin volleyball for many years,” Kazura said. “She has a positive, upbeat coaching style while providing a demanding, competitive atmosphere on her court. Her in-depth knowledge of the Gold Medal Squared system of training volleyball, which is a cornerstone of the Latin volleyball program, is impressive and will provide important continuity for our 7th-12th grade players. I am sad to be relocating and leaving the girls in the Latin volleyball community, but I am thrilled for them that Gloria will be leading them in the next chapter of their volleyball careers."
