Millbrook rallies to beat Greenfield in John Wall

By Jordan Hadding, HighSchoolOT reporter

Raleigh, N.C. — Millbrook needed a huge final quarter to overcome a double-digit fourth quarter deficit on Thursday night.

Greenfield led by as many as 13 points in the game but Millbrook came back and won the game, 52-50, in the opening round of the John Wall Holiday Invitational on Thursday night.

Both teams struggled to find consistent offense in the first half.

The two teams defended well but a lot of easy opportunities were missed on both sides. Greenfield was able to take claim to a slight 10-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The sloppy play carried over to the second quarter and turnovers, missed free throws were effecting Millbrook. The Wildcats were outscored in the second quarter 10-8 and trailed by three at the halftime horn.

The Knights came out firing from deep in the third quarter. Greenfield connected on numerous three pointers and continued to play excellent defense which allowed the Knights to pull away and make it a 39-27 game heading into the final eight minutes of play.

The Wildcats finally up the pace in the fourth quarter. Millbrook was able to get easy looks in transition and knocked down some triples of its own on its way to out scoring Greenfield 25-10 in the final quarter of play.

Millbrook was led by Will Felton who had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Zach Miller helped out by scoring a career high 12 points.

Greenfield also had two players, Collin Guilford and Hampton Evans, score 12 points in the game.
