Greenfield holds off Henderson Collegiate

Using only five players for the duration of the contest, the Greenfield School varsity girls basketball team built a 32-16 halftime lead and held on in the fourth period for a 47-43 nonconference win over visiting Henderson Collegiate on Tuesday.

Greenfield (4-3), a 1-A member of the 1-A/2-A Coastal Plain Independents Conference, got a massive double-double of 28 points and 16 rebounds from senior guard Kaelyn Wall. She had 22 of her total points in the first half.

The Lady Knights owned a 12-point lead heading into the fourth and led by 10 before seeing the margin dip to two possessions with 1:37 left. However, the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 1-A North Central Conference Pride (3-3) got no closer.

Jeallen Holland had 13 points for Greenfield. Head coach Bruce Wall credited point guard Serenity McNair for her oversight of the offense.

Greenfield plays host to crosstown foe Community Christian on Friday.
