Lady Knights surge past Wayne Christian
After letting Wayne Christian sneak back into Friday’s varsity girls basketball game at Greenfield, the Lady Knights snatched control in the fourth quarter to pull out a 37-30 victory.
Greenfield, which improved to 13-7 overall and 4-2 in 1-A Coastal Plain Independents Conference play, outscored Wayne Christian 12-4 in the final period. Eighth grader Serenity McNair dropped in a game-high 22 points for Greenfield while Jeallen Holland added seven points.
Sophomore Brianna Verme’s 13 points paced the Lady Eagles (10-8, 1-6 CPIC).
Greenfield will host second-place Friendship Christian of Raleigh as conference action continues Tuesday.
