Taylor twins wrap up Greenfield careers in 1-A golf

FOXFIRE VILLAGE —Accomplished Greenfield School athletic careers for senior twins Jake and Luke Taylor ended in Tuesday’s final round of the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A boys golf championship at Foxfire Resort and Golf Club.
Jake Taylor carded a 38-48—86 over the par-72 Red Fox Course, while Luke Taylor fashioned a 45-42—87.
In Monday’s opening round, each of the twins shot an 82. Jake Taylor, who played the front nine well both rounds, carded a 39-43, while Luke Taylor, better on the back nine each day, managed 42-40. Thus, Jake Taylor finished one shot ahead of his brother with his 168 total for 36 holes.
The Taylors tied for 11th place in the opening round and trailed front-runners Collin Carlton of Hickory’s University Christian and Hickory Christian’s Evan Rhodes by six shots.
The twins were also standouts in the sports of baseball and basketball.
