Williams-Sutton earns pair of freshman All-American honors
A dazzling first collegiate season from Greenfield School product Dwanya Williams-Sutton propelled him to his second freshman All-American award Monday afternoon.
Williams-Sutton, an East Carolina University outfielder, was accorded a first-team freshman All-America selection by Baseball America.
Previously named a Louisville Slugger All-American by Collegiate Baseball, Williams-Sutton led the American Athletic Conference in both batting average (.360) and on-base percentage at (.455). He was second in slugging percentage at .551.
In helping the Pirates to a 38-23-1 record, the Charlottesville Regional championship and moving to within a game of the program’s first berth in the College World Series, Williams-Sutton had five home runs, four triples and 11 doubles. He drove in 31 runs in becoming the 14th freshman All-American in ECU history.
