Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week: Jake Taylor, Greenfield
Jake Taylor was a central figure in his Greenfield School varsity baseball team’s two wins last week, making him this week’s Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
In Monday’s 3-2 win over defending North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A champion Fayetteville Freedom Christian, Jake, a junior right-hander, pitched six innings to get the win, his fourth without a loss. He struck out five and allowed five hits while producing at the plate with a double and an RBI.
The Knights thumped Wayne Country Day 11-1 on Friday as Jake, playing shortstop, went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs.
The son of Cheri and Earl Taylor of Wilson, Jake has a 4.5 weighted GPA at Greenfield, where he is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and National Honor Society as well as president of the Science Club. He also plays basketball for Greenfield.
Jake and his family attend First Presbyterian Church. He has volunteered as a football camp counselor at The SPOT of Wilson. Jake plays showcase baseball for the Wilson Pelicans.
