Farris & Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week: Nik Edwards, Greenfield School
Nik Edwards helped his Greenfield School varsity boys basketball team reach the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Assoctiation 1-A championship game last week, making him this week’s Farris & Thomas Law Attorneys Student-Athlete of the Week.
Nik, a sophomore wing, scored 11 points as the Knights topped Crossroads Christian 98-64 on Tuesday to advance to the state final for the 10th time. Greenfield lost to Charlotte United Faith Christian 76-69 in the final but Nik scored four points. He averaged 7 points and 6 rebounds for the season while being one of the Knights’ top defenders.
The son of Nicky and Rod Edwards of Wilson, Nik has a 3.8 GPA while taking Advanced Placement Environmental Science, Honors Spanish, Honors History and Honors Algebra II. He is one of the four students to found the Diversity Equity Inclusion Justice club at Greenfield and is also a member of the school’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter. Nik previously participated in the Foundations of Leadership program at Greenfield
He served as a volunteer coach for the Greenfield youth basketball league in its first season this winter and works part-time at PowerPlex Athletic Center in Wilson.
Nik plays AAU basketball, previously for Team DBGH.
