HIGH POINT — High Point Christian topped Cary Christian 62-34 in nonconference boys basketball Tuesday at HPCA.
K.J. Garrett had 12 points, five assists and six steals to lead the Cougars (7-0), while Isaiah Sanders had 12 points, four assists and five steals. Ethan Smith also had 12 points and three assists, while Thomas McIntosh had 10 points.
In the girls game, High Point Christian cruised to a 56-34 victory. Nadiya Hairston had 17 points and four assists for the Cougars (7-0), who led 21-2 after one quarter and 40-6 at halftime. Tiir Nyok had 10 points, seven steals and five rebounds, while Georgia Walls and Angel Walker added nine points each.
The girls team is ranked No. 39 nationally by MaxPreps, No. 2 overall in the state, and No. 1 among NCISAA 3A teams, while the boys team is No. 8 in the state overall and No. 2 among NCISAA 3A teams.
