Hoggard 53, Coastal Christian 35

The Vikings (3-0) shrugged off a slow start and received three great performances off the bench in a runaway win over the Centurions.

Reserves Devin Corbett, Jacob Fisher and Luke Lamporte all provided a spark as the Vikings closed the first half with a 13-2 run to snag a 25-18 lead at intermission. Corbett and Lamporte scored 10 of Hoggard’s 15 points in the second quarter.

“We’ve been talking about the need for depth,” Hoggard head coach Brett Queen said. “This was the first time we’ve had some guys with foul trouble this year and I thought our kids off the bench responded well.”

Brady Rankin led the Vikings with 14 points, draining four three-pointers in the win. Rankin’s quick release and ability to make off-balance jumpers give Hoggard’s offense an added dimension.

″(Rankin) can make some shots when you wouldn’t necessarily want someone to take them,” Queen said. “But he’s proven pretty regularly that he can make them.”

Chazz Banks led Coastal Christian (3-4) with 11 points.
