Panther Creek tops HPCA for boys title

In the boys championship, Panther Creek used a strong second quarter to pull away and beat High Point Christian 80-58.
In the boys game, KJ Garrett scored 16 points while Drake Carrick had 11 and Landon Sutton had 10 to lead HPCA (7-8). The teams were tied 17-17 after the fi rst quarter, but Panther Creek — led by tournament MVP Armon Muldrew with 21 points — outscored the Cougars 21-8 in the second to lead 38-25 at half-time.The Catamounts, who forced HPCA into tough shots on the defensive end and then converted on their opportuni-ties on the offensive end, extended their lead to 25 in the second half.
