HPCA takes two from Westchester

HIGH POINT — KJ Garrett and Landon Sutton each had a 20-point performance to help lead High Point Christian past Westchester Countr yDay 72-65 in NCISAA Piedmont Triad Athletic Conference boys basketball Tuesday night at Westchester’s Finch Center.In the girls game, Rachel Yurko scored 11 points to lead a well-balanced scoring effort as HPCA cruised past Westchester 50-18.
Garrett finished with 22 points while Sutton had 20 lead to the Cougars (12-10 overall, 5-1 PTAC), who lost to the Wildcats by 10 in early December. PJ Underhill added 17 points as HPCA led by 10 within the first 2 1-2 minutes, held a 36-28 lead into halftime and withstood Westchester’s comeback attempts.
Jackson Weil scored 20 points to lead the Wildcats (9-8, 3-3), who got back with-in two in the first quarter and again in the third quarter and, after trailing by 12 inside the final 30 seconds, rallied within five with 20 seconds left. J3 Swindell added 19 points while Myles Patterson followed with 13 points.
