HPCA used a number of big plays to pull away from CFA and secure the 52-0 win. The Cougars led 25-0 at the halftime break and exploded for 27 in the 3rd quarter.
De'Shaun Taylor found Ty Melton for an 81-yard TD and followed that up with a 68-yard TD run as well. In the second quarter, Taylor found Dre Davis for an 88-yard TD and then Melton again for a 23-yd TD.
Lance Boykin opened the 2nd half with a 95-yd kickoff return for a TD. On CFA's first offensive play of the half, Greg Streater intercepted the ball and returned it to the 8-yard line. Ryan Van Eaton then scored on an 8-yd TD run. Chance Clency added another TD with a 12-yd run with just under 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. For the second time in the third quarter, HPCA intercepted a CFA pass on the first play of a drive - this time it was Davis, and he returned it 34 yards for the final score of the night.
HPCA is off next week due to the school's Senior Trip and will travel to Randleman High School on September 30.
