RALEIGH -- Concord's Cannon School wrapped up the John Wall Holiday Invitational with a 66-60 victory over Orlando's Downey Christian in Saturday's seventh-place game in the David West bracket.

Downey Christian trailed 17-12 after the first quarter and 32-27 at halftime. The Patriots took their first lead in the fourth quarter and went back-and-forth with Cannon the rest of the way.

"I love the way we dug in in the fourth and really started separating ourselves," Cannon coach Che Roth said. "This is a great way to cap things and get back on a good foot. We didn't play particularly poorly in the first two days but we didn't play particularly well either."

After turning his ankle on Friday, Cannon freshman Jaden Bradley was limping at times but still had 22 points, five rebounds, and seven assists for the Cougars (10-8).

D.J. Nix, another freshman, had a game-high 23 points.

For Downey, Eduardo Peralta (20 points, seven rebounds, four assists) had a big game, Julian Newman (17 points, 4 of 13 shooting, 3 of 7 from 3, four assists), and Emmanuel Maldanado (12 points, five rebounds) all had big games.

"We just blew this one," coach Jamie Newman said. "We had 17 turnovers and gave up 11 offensive rebounds -- that's 28 possessions."

But coach Newman was also pleased with how the Patriots (8-9) played. A day after only tallying two assists as a team, Downey had 11 on 23 made baskets on Saturday.

"We worked more as a team today," coach Newman said.
