HENDERSON — Only a few weeks into the winter sports season at Kerr-Vance Academy, a major change has occurred in the school’s athletic department.
On Nov. 24 — a day before Thanksgiving — KVA officials announced that Athletic Director Sam Feaver would be relieved of his duties, with Head of School Alison Short taking over the position on an interim basis.
Feaver had replaced George Hoyle Jr. as the athletic director in July.
“I was honored to be given the chance to be the athletic director at Kerr-Vance Academy,” Feaver said in a statement. “It’s a school with such a proud athletic tradition. I regret that it did not work out for me to stay.”
Feaver previously served as the athletic director for Cresset Christian Academy before being contacted by Hoyle about the opening at KVA during the summer.
KVA’s men’s soccer team finished 1-13 on the 2021 season, while the volleyball program only accumulated a 2-13 record after narrowly missing out on its third consecutive NCISAA 1A Championship the year before.
For winter sports, KVA currently holds a 1-1 record in men’s basketball in its first season under head coach Derrick Bond, and will not play again until Friday against Oakwood. The women’s basketball program remains winless through two contests.
With Feaver no longer at KVA, the school is now beginning their search for a new athletic director and intends to announce Feaver’s replacement in the near future.
