NCISAA Field Hockey: Charlotte Latin wins, denies Country Day 3-peat


Charlotte Latin beat rival Charlotte Country Day 3-1 in the N.C. Independent Schools final Saturday in Durham and denied the Bucs a third straight state title.

Charlotte Latin (14-3) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first half Saturday at Durham Academy off a goal from Camille Kane. UNC signee Kathryn Holland tied the game in the second half for Country Day. But with 7:37 to play, Caroline Balough scored off a Kane assist for the go-ahead goal. With 3:45 left, Balough scored off another Kane assist.

Latin’s Corbett Foster finished with five saves.
