SANFORD — Jesse Mitchell poured in 43 points, with 25 coming in the second half in the midst of a Crusader comeback, and Grace Christian beat neighborhood and conference rival Lee Christian 70-64 Friday night at Grace Christian’s Torgerson Gymnasium. In the girls’ game earlier in the evening, freshman Kelyce McSwain powered the Lady Falcons with 19 points and Lee Christian won 45-41.

In the boys’ game, the Crusaders rallied from 12 down starting the second half and as much as 14 down early in the third quarter.

Grace Christian (14-12, 4-1) cut a 44-30 deficit to a 49-45 Falcon lead at the end of the third quarter.

A flurry of three-pointers, three by Mitchell, then one by center Ma’kyi Butler, made it 58-53 Crusaders with just under five minutes left in the game.

Mitchell hit four three-pointers on the night, but did most of his work driving strong to the basket or working for rebounds and second-chance baskets. Butler added 17 points.

For the Falcons, guard Sayvion Ellis scored 27 points and guard Quez Rochelle scored 16 points.
