Knights clobber Lawrence 11-4
On a great day for baseball, with sunny skies and warm temperatures inside Fleming Stadium on Tuesday, Greenfield School nearly ended it early, but went the whole seven innings in an 11-4 varsity victory against Lawrence Academy.
"We had a chance to finish it early," Greenfield head coach Daniel Johnson said. "We scored three runs in the fifth and were up 10-1 with the bases load and one out. But we couldn't get that last one home."
Instead, Lawrence got three runs in the sixth to keep the game going.
"We played well," Johnson said. "We got up early by hitting and pitching well."
Senior East Carolina signee Isaiah White was 3 for 5 with a triple and three RBIs to pace the Knights, who improved to 3-1.
Jeff Hagan was 2 for 4, including an RBI single in the first to start the scoring.
Dwanya Williams-Sutton, also an ECU signee, was 2 for 4 with a double. Parker Lucas was 3 for 4.
Hagan (1-0) got the win, pitching five innings. He gave up three runs (two earned) on two hits. He walked three and struck out seven.
Greenfield will travel to North Raleigh Christian on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
