Pierce HR helps CCS avoid perfect game
Sarah Pierce provided the brightest of the few bright spots for the Community Christian softball team Monday in its 20-1 loss at home to Halifax Academy.
Pierce lined an inside-the-park home run broke up a perfect game by the Lady Vikings pitcher in the bottom of the fourth inning and accounted for the Lady Cyclones’ only run. CCS would go on to add singles by Kirsten Pierce and Abigale Bass.
Addison Lamm took the loss in the pitching circle for the Lady Cyclones, who close out regular-season play Tuesday at home against New Life Christian.

Lamm leads CCS to Senior Day win
Addison Lamm made the most of the Senior Night for her and Community Christian softball teammate Abigale Bass against visiting New Life Christian on Tuesday.
Lamm, starting in the pitching circle, threw three perfect innings and drove in four runs as the Lady Cyclones rolled to a 17-2 win in five innings. Sophomore Sarah Pierce pitched the last two innings to combine on a no-hitter for CCS, which improved 5-9. New Life scored two runs in the top of of the fifth on a combination of walks and passed balls.
Lamm doubled twice in four at-bats while sophomore Kirsten Pierce led CCS with a 4-for-4 showing that included a double and two RBIs. Emily Boyette was 2 for 3 with a pair of runs driven in.
The Lady Cyclones will play in the 1-A Carolina Christian Conference tournament, beginning May 5 at Lee Christian.
