Greenfield stopped by KVA 7-2

HENDERSON — The Greenfield School varsity girls tennis team forced host Kerr-Vance Academy into doubles play to clinch the outcome Tuesday afternoon before suffering a doubles sweep in a 7-2 loss.

Avery Vester and Callie Boyette won at opposite ends of the singles lineup for the 1-A Coastal Plain Independents Conference Lady Knights (2-6), with Vester winning 7-6, 6-2 over KVA’s Holly Steg at No. 1. At No. 6 singles, Callie Boyette won another first-set tiebreaker in dismissing Genie Parish 7-6, 6-2.

“We played singles first and we battled well, doubles continues to be our weakness and we will continue to work,” Greenfield coach Robert Cunningham said.

Greenfield plays host to Fayetteville Freedom Christian on Thursday at Barton Tennis Complex.
