Grant Webb’s steal and layup at the buzzer created the first tie for the Community Christian varsity boys basketball since the opening tip Friday night against Pope John Paul II Catholic High of Greenville.
However, the Cyclones couldn’t sustain the momentum in overtime of the nonconference game in ENCSD’s Williamson Gym and lost their fifth straight 65-62.
Rieshod Baines led CCS, now 4-11, with 21 points before fouling out in regulation. Webb added 12 points. Shyquan Jones, a 6-foot-5 guard, had a game-high 34 points for Pope John Paul II.
The Cyclones will attempt to halt their skid Tuesday when they visit Cresset Christian in Durham.
