Coaches/A.D.'s:
First off, I'm excited to be back on the board and able to post again. Since starting my own business and being away from coaching I got off this message board but have really missed easily being able to look up scores .I feel like Mike Williams trying to go to newspapers to look up box scores -- Mike..you are the man and make it easy for us so I'm excited to be "lazy" again and let you do the work![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
Since we are about to wrap up the basketball season I wanted to get basketball coaches and Athletic Directors thoughts on a potential basketball tournament I have been asked to run in Myrtle Beach next season and to see if you think it would be something schools would be interested in coming to.
Since there aren't just tons of mid season tournaments for middle schools (especially around Christmas), the city of Myrtle Beach is wanting to put together something in December for private schools only from NC and SC. In a perfect world, we would match up NC vs SC private schools in the first round....but before even setting up the event I wanted to get everyone's thoughts on here to see what type of interest there would be in the first place.
The city of Myrtle Beach is thinking about doing it probably the 2nd weekend in December (December 8 & 9) and the first game would not be until late Friday night to give teams enough time to drive into town.
Since the city has asked me to direct the tournament and to give them thoughts on the set up, I thought this forum would be the best place to get "true" feedback.
Here are my questions:
- Is there a high interest in this and would this be something you would consider sending your team to?
- Would that weekend be a good date?
- Would you prefer one game Friday and one game Saturday (or one game Friday & two Saturday)?
- Are you used to paying an Entry Fee for a Middle School tournament?
- If you are used to paying a fee (to offset referee/award cost), how much are you used to paying?
I appreciate any advice/thoughts in advance as I wasn't sure this is something schools would be interested in or not.
I'm hoping to get out to the Championship games on Saturday so I hope to catch up with many of you then!
Thanks!!
