APA to participate in inaugural NC vs. VA 8-Man Football Game

The Patriots’ seniors will get one more game together.
An all-star game has been set up between some of the best seniors in 8-man football between North Carolina and Virginia. The inaugural NC vs. VA All-Star Game will take place Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Dinwiddie Sports Complex in Sutherland, Virginia.
If the event is able to continue, next year it will be held in North Carolina and alternate between states after each season.
The rosters will be compiled of 18 to 24 seniors, either from the NCISAA of North Carolina or the VISFL of Virginia. Team North Carolina will be led by John Paul II head coach Sean Murphy.
“As the head coach of team North Carolina, I am excited to work with a talented group of players, along with some outstanding high school coaches,” Murphy said.
APA coach Matt Beaman will work as an assistant and said the initial plan for the event started via conversation with Greenbrier coach Kevin Washington, who recently led the Gators to a state title.
“He brought it up to coaches in his state, they liked the idea and we were able to get the ball rolling,” Beaman said. “This is a great opportunity for the seniors to not only play football one last time at the high school level, but also build friendships.”
