P-Day Boys, Girls Fall Again in Music City Classic

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Hamilton Heights girls basketball team took it’s opening bow in the Music City Classic with a 62-38 thrashing of Providence Day.


Hamilton Heights jumped out to a 20-6 lead in the first quarter, eventually grabbing a 23-11 lead at the end of the opening period. Stifling defense, however, was the name of the game for Hamilton Heights in the second quarter, allowing only five points in the frame by holding Providence Day to 1-of-9 shooting from the field. The impressive D gave Hamilton Heights a commanding 39-16 lead at the break.


The third quarter was more of the same as Hamilton Heights turned in its best offensive period with a 57.1 percent performance from the field including a 5-of-6 effort from behind the arc.


The fourth quarter was a formality, but Providence Day held Hamilton Heights to only two points in the final stanza while scoring 14 of their own to cut the final margin to 24.


Amber Hunt turned in an impressive 30 points for the winners, including drilling 6-of-8 three-point attempts in the contest. Treasure Hunt chipped in 17 points behind a 4-of-5 performance from behind the arc.


Providence Day got 21 points from Janelle Bailey, who also led both squads with nine rebounds.
