Ricardo Viera has joined St. David’s as our new Athletic Director. He replaces Sherry Kapelar, who is returning to Charlotte as the AD at Covenant Day School. He comes to St. David’s from Providence School in Jacksonville, Florida with his wife, Rachel, and three children. “I’m excited to serve at St. David’s where Christian education provides the opportunity to minister the word of God and provide students with the values of faith, virtue and knowledge,” said Viera. “St. David’s student-athletes have excelled in the classroom and in the athletic arena. They have also taken their commitment to Christ into the communities where they study, live and work. I look forward to serving with the dedicated staff and coaches who are an integral part of this outcome.” Viera earned his BS degree in Physical Education and Exercise Science from Bowling Green State University, and will earn his MS degree in Sports Management from Liberty University in December. He has served as an Athletic Director for the past 9 years and was previously a classroom teacher in Physical Education. He is a veteran, having served America for three years in the United States Army. He will assume his duties at St. David’s July 1st.
