The Burlington School announced on Thursday, July 25, that it has named Ryan Bernardi as the new head coach of its boys basketball program. Bernardi comes to TBS following a successful season as the head coach at Burlington Christian Academy.
“Ryan will bring a tremendous amount of energy and passion to TBS. He has already accomplished a great deal at a young age and he will be a great asset to our athletics program and our school community,” said TBS Director of Athletics Will Roberson.
Bernardi led BCA to a program-record 19 victories and an appearance in the state quarterfinals in the 2018-19 season. BCA averaged 80.11 points per game during the regular season to rank among the top 10 scoring offenses in the state.
“I am beyond excited to continue the tradition of TBS basketball,” stated Bernardi. “There is an incredible culture of excellence at The Burlington School in academics, the arts and athletics. I am thrilled to be the head basketball coach and am very grateful for the trust that Mr. (Ronnie) Wall and Will Roberson have placed in me.”
Bernardi has also been successful on the AAU circuit, where he founded the North Carolina ICE program in 2016. His program sports four teams and he currently serves as the head coach for the 2021 squad.
Bernardi graduated from nearby Elon University with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics in May. During his time at Elon, Bernardi spent three seasons as a student manager for the men’s basketball program. His roles included assisting coaches with scouting and game preparation as well as working with the director of operations on travel, team meals, academic oversight, recruiting visits and community outreach hool.
