Southeast Raleigh rolls over North Raleigh Christian Academy and into second round of John Wall
Cary, N.C. — Southeast Raleigh did what Southeast Raleigh does on Thursday night. The Bulldogs held North Raleigh Christian to just 18 points in the 55-18 win over the Knights.
The undefeated Bulldogs had allowed a combined eight points in its last two games. They kept up the defensive intensity in the opening round of play in the Wonderland bracket at the John Wall Holiday Invitational.
They carried the defensive momentum into the beginning of the game, holding NRCA to just three first quarter points.
One of the keys for Southeast was shutting down NRCA star Imani Lester. She was held to just seven points in the loss and had four fouls.
The Bulldogs had a balanced scoring attack in the win. No player finished in double figures. Bobbi Smith finished with nine, Mikayla Harris and Anya Poole both had eight and Skylar Quillet and Morgan Graham both had six points.
Because the Bulldogs don't have one player that the offense runs through, it makes it difficult for teams to slow them down.
They will face Ashley on Friday at 6:30 p.m. Southeast Raleigh has not seen the Eagles this year, but they are familiar with their star player. Saniya Rivers played at Laney last season, a team that the Bulldogs knocked out of the playoffs.
Rivers had 21 points in that regional semifinal game.
The Bulldogs will look to slow the junior down on Friday night.
