CCS's Bullard strikes his way to Methodist

Quite simply, Community Christian School boys soccer senior Christian Bullard is a scorer.
At nearly every stage of his prep career, Bullard’s leg has been a powerful weapon that must be respected — if not outright feared — by all opponents in the 1-A Carolina Christian Conference. Whether it’s during the run of play, or a precise, long-range strike off a set piece, the leg of Bullard has given the Cyclones their own impact player that can quickly seize control of a match.
Bullard will depart CCS as the program’s all-time leading scorer following a career that saw him contribute a whopping 144 goals and 47 assists. The next stop in his soccer career will take him to NCAA Division III Methodist University, where Bullard chose the USA South Athletic Conference Monarchs over interest from Lynchburg (Virginia) College, Ferrum College and Div. II Barton College.
Although Methodist didn’t immediately rise to the forefront, Bullard attended an invitation-only camp in the early part in 2015, which doubled as his first time on campus. After the camp, MU head coach Justin Terranova expressed his interest in the 2014 CCC Player of the Year.
"When I got there, they talked about the class size and coming from a small school like this, (Terranova) said the average class size for a freshman would be about 30,” Bullard recalled. "I mean, a class right now, I’ve got six people in it. So hopefully the transition wouldn’t be as bad as going to a bigger school with that many people.”
While Div. III institutions are not permitted to award athletic scholarships, Bullard, a three-time all-CCC regular-season and tournament selection, indicated that some of his tuition would be offset through academic monies. Even though his college destination is set, Bullard plans to take the SAT on Saturday in the hopes of procuring additional scholarship opportunities.
The son of Ike and Jennifer Bullard plans to major in communication.
Under Terranova’s direction, the Monarchs were 13-3-1 last season and advanced to the quarterfinals of the USA South tournament.
