The Greenfield School varsity boys soccer team set up a winner-take-all clash for the season-opening Greenfield Cup with a 6-1 conquest of Kerr-Vance Academy on Friday night on Forbes Field.

Greenfield of the 1-A Coastal Plain Independents Conference stayed unbeaten through two matches and will square off against fellow unbeaten Cape Fear Christian on Saturday at 1 p.m. Cape Fear did its part in setting up the final with a 4-0 shutout of Fayetteville Village Christian.
On Thursday, Greenfield opened its season with a 5-1 victory over Village Christian.
Logan Johnson scored twice for Greenfield and added one assist, with his tallies coming in the first and 29th minutes. James Wells finished a Johnson feed in the 21st. The Knights led 3-0 at the half, with Greenfield taking a 4-0 lead on an unassisted tally from Ryan Stone. Roughly five minutes later, Cullen Wells provided the finish off an assist by Jackson Stone.
Village Christian, an NCISAA 2-A independent, averted the shutout with a goal in the 58th.
Greenfield, which had a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks, owned 60 percent of the possession and asserted a 17-5 edge in shots on frame.
