RALEIGH -- Statesville Christian defeated United Faith in four sets Saturday to capture its second straight N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 1A state championship.
Jenae Baker recorded nine kills, four aces and three blocks as the Lions (18-4) won 25-19, 25-14, 17-25, 27-25.
Aasia McNeill led the Lions in kills with 10. She also had seven digs. Other notable performers included Isabella Terblanche (10 digs, five kills), Amy Holchin (25 digs) and Hannah Phillips (32 assists, eight digs).
The victory avenged a five-set Oct. 13 loss to United Faith (19-3) in the South Piedmont Athletic Association tournament final.
