HIGH POINT — Calvary Baptist sank 17 more free throws than Westchester Country Day and upset the No. 2-seed Wildcats 69-64 in the semifinals of the TAC tournament Thursday at Westchester.
As the second-place team in the TAC regular season, Westchester (19-10) is assured of a berth in the NCISAA 2A tournament next week. Seeding and opponent will be announced Sunday.
Calvary outscored Westchester 28-23 in the fourth quarter after they battled to a 41-41 tie at the end of the third quarter. Calvary hit 21 of 25 free throws for the game while the Wildcats were 4 of 5.
Marshall Lange led Westchester with 21 points. Kaymon Bennett had 16 and LJ McCoy 14.
