Village Christian Academy's head football coach is no longer employed at the private Fayetteville school, said Superintendent Gene Hales.
Hales said he could not comment further on the departure of coach Ray Stanifer, because it was a personnel matter.
Stanifer recently completed his second year as the head football coach at Village. In both seasons, he guided the team to the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association state football playoffs.
The team was 4-6 this year and 6-6 last season. Those are the only state playoff appearances Village ever made in football.
In addition to coaching football, Stanifer conducted weight training classes at the school.
