From staff reports

ERWIN — A blistering fourth quarter enabled the visiting Greenfield School varsity boys basketball team to finally pull away en route to an 85-65 nonconference triumph against Cape Fear Christian on Monday night.

With four players scoring in double figures, the Knights posted their seventh win against four losses and next see action at 2 p.m. Saturday against Statesvillle Christian.

With senior Coby White and sophomore Jacari Outlaw bombing in long-range shots, the Knights poured in 31 fourth-quarter points. Greenfield entered the fourth quarter with just a 54-49 edge against a Cape Fear team that Greenfield head coach Rob Salter described as “really scrappy.”

However, the 3-pointers, Cape Fear turnovers and Greenfield transition broke open the game in the final period.

White, who has signed with the North Carolina Tar Heels, again triggered Greenfield with 28 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

However, Jacari Outlaw, a 6-foot-3 sophomore, fired in a career-high 21 points and sophomore Dji Bailey matched his season high of 18 points. Seior Elijah McCadden added 10 points.

Pacing Cape Fear were Isaiah Tatum with 26 points and Miles Gologaza with 12.
