Cannon Cougars Varsity Drops Game To Covenant Day After Late Score



Cannon Cougars Varsity stayed in it until the end, but Covenant Day pulled away late in a 17-8 victory on Thursday. The game was tied at eight with Covenant Day batting in the bottom of the fifth when L Myers singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Despite the loss, Cannon Cougars Varsity did collect four hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Covenant Day had eight hits on the way to victory.

Cannon Cougars Varsity took an early lead in the second inning when an error scored one run for Cannon Cougars Varsity.

Cannon Cougars Varsity notched five runs in the fourth inning. Victor Lopez, Eli Snodgrass, Kunal Handa, and Reid Bertram each drove in runs during the inning.

Tim Watson led things off on the pitcher's mound for Cannon Cougars Varsity. The pitcher went three and a third innings, allowing six runs on five hits and striking out one. Handa, Tucker Kelly, and Jack Mahar each contributed in relief for Cannon Cougars Varsity.

Zach Kellman went 2-for-5 at the plate to lead Cannon Cougars Varsity in hits.

Covenant Day racked up eight hits on the day. L Howard and Myers all managed multiple hits for Covenant Day. Covenant Day stole seven bases during the game as two players stole more than one. T Cotton led the way with three.
