Unselfish Greenfield coasts by Central Alamance Prep

Buoyed by 22 assists, the Greenfield School varsity boys basketball team won its second game in as many tries with an 88-40 win over visiting Central Alamance Prep on Thursday night.

Greenfield, a 1-A member of the split 1-A/2-A Coastal Plain Independents Conference, was led by a pair of freshmen in Hampton Evans and Jordan Vick.

Evans compiled a double-double of 29 points and 11 rebounds, while Vick compiled an exhaustive line of 20 points, seven assists and five steals.

Junior Aaron Murphy patrolled the glass in his own right, also notching his own double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

“It was a great defensive effort,” Greenfield head coach Rob Salter said. “We shared the ball well; I’m very proud of the effort.”

Sophomore Jackson Watt and senior Justin Holland each added six points each for the Knights, who host Belhaven Pungo Christian on Tuesday.
