Huston’s 4 goals boost CCS by St. Thomas More

Senior Andrew Huston supplied four goals Thursday, and the Community Christian School varsity boys soccer team needed every last one of them to come away with a 6-5 victory over Coastal Independents Conference opponent Raleigh St. Thomas More.
With the match tied at 5-5, Huston received a through ball from Salvador Guzman. Huston outran two defenders and arrived at a one-on-one with the keeper, where he put it away for the game winner in the 71st minute.
Tied 1-1 at the half, St. Thomas More equalized in the 65th minute before Huston rescued the Cyclones (6-6-1, 3-4 CIC). His unassisted tally in the 38th minute helped CCS overcome an early one-goal deficit.
In the second half, Huston put away successive passes from Guzman in the 44th and 45th minutes. Josh Webb scored twice, the latter coming in the 63rd minute off an assist by Avery Winstead. Webb’s first goal came unassisted in the 52nd minute.
CCS steps out of conference Monday to face Wayne Christian.
