NORTHWOOD WINS SECOND GAME OF SEASON
MARCH 6TH 2017
Northwood Temple wins its second game of the year and their first conference game by downing Cape Fear Christian by the score of 20-3. Northwood started it off with scoring 9 runs in the first, sending 15 players to the plate. Noah Wingate, Chance Chavis, Ben Hernandez and Alex Evans all recording hits. Ben Hernandez base hit resulted in a RBI which scored Chance Chavis who had a base hit to left center. Alex evens came to the plate and drilled a double over the centerfielder which resulted in scoring Zack Williams and Ben Hernandez. The Eagles which batted around to Jay Hickman who recorded a base hit and a RBI scoring Noah Wingate who reached on a error. Chance Chavis led the second inning with a bases loaded triple down the left field line scoring Wingate, Hickman, and Canady. Chavis on the day was 2 for 3 with 4 RBI’s. Pitching Chance Chavis had another stellar day facing 16 batters, striking out 11 and allowing no hits. Cape Fear scored 3 unearned runs in the fifth on a walk and an error in the outfield and scoring on a rundown to end the game.
The Eagles are now 2-0 on the year and 1-0 in the conference and will be traveling to Fayetteville Academy for a rematch of the season opener. Northwood’s next home game is vs. Scotland Christian on March 17th!
