HENDERSON — Host Kerr-Vance Academy scored a goal in the 13th minute and that would be all the top-seeded Lady Spartans would need as they blanked Greenfield 2-0 on Tuesday to advance to the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A championship game.
Kerr-Vance (12-2) will play The Burlington School (13-3), the No. 2 seed that dispatched No. 3 Neuse Christian 4-0 in the other semifinal Tuesday.
Greenfield, the No. 4 seed, limited Kerr-Vance to 14 shots and took nine but the Lady Knights of head coach Eric Nguyen were shut out for only the fourth time all season. Greenfield, which finished 12-8, posted the most wins since its last NCISAA-championship season in 2012.
It was the final game for Lady Knights seniors Sumer Hassan, Catherine Alvarez and Safa Ahmed.
