Wilson Prep rolls by Cary Academy

CARY — Five players tossed in nine or more points in triggering the Wilson Preparatory Academy varsity boys basketball team to an 80-62 road victory against Cary Academy on Wednesday night.

The Tigers were spearheaded by Tyronne Whitaker with 24 points. Ja’kwon Moore tossed in 14 points and Righteous Tomlin 12. Contributing nine points each were Denardrick Gray and Sean Sanders. Whitaker drained two of Wilson Prep’s three accurate 3-point shots.

The Tigers bounced to an 18-10 first-quarter lead and expanded the margin to 40-28 at halftime.

Wilson Prep’s balanced rebounding included six each from Denardrick and Tomlin and five from Whitaker. Whitaker managed three steals.
