Forte’s hot hand gives Cyclones first win under Atkinson


Jimmy Forte had 26 points as Community Christian thumped visiting Lee Christian 68-48 in the first win for new varsity boys basketball coach Kenneth Atkinson on Friday.

“We played a really good game, in the first half it was really awesome,” Atkinson said after his Cyclones evened their record at 1-1 in the game played at Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf.

Atkinson said CCS led by as many as 31 points in the third quarter before he started substituting liberally.

Forte added seven assists while Eric Wynn had a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds. Jeremiah Williams had nine points, eight rebounds and three blocks.

Caleb Reynolds scored 28 points to lead Lee Christian.

The Cyclones will host Cresset Christian on Thursday at ENCSD’s Williamson Gym.
