The Wilson Christian varsity girls basketball is beginning to reap the benefits of witnessing shots drop through the basket.
Junior Anna Snead poured in 11 points for the Lady Chargers, and Wilson Christian surged to its fourth consecutive victory Thursday night in a 56-29 win over Henderson Crossroads Christian.
WCA of the North Carolina Christian School Association 2-A District 3 ranks surged above the .500 mark in winning the make-up contest.
“It’s amazing what seeing shots fall does to a team,” WCA assistant coach Mitch Hayes said. “We’ve had really good practices over Christmas break and it’s showing in games.”
Defensively, Wilson Christian turned 11 deflections and 22 steals into a number of transition layups. Senior Kimberly Lamm had six steals, while junior Jenna Hunter had five thefts.
WCA took a 32-16 lead into the half and maintained that 16-point margin entering the fourth quarter.
Sophomore Caitlyn Barnes had seven rebounds. Lea Gossett, an eighth grader, chipped in 10 points.
