Bethel Christian started fast and never looked back against Lawrence Academy, as the Trojans routed the Warriors, 44-0, and improved to 2-2 on the season while the Warriors fell to 0-4.

Cody Dunk and Josh Sutton scored 49 and 64 yard rushing touchdowns on the teams first two possessions to go up 16-0 after the first quarter. However, the passing game shined in the first half.

In the second quarter, Connor Williams found Quan Hamilton for the first passing touchdown of the night. Williams would find Jeremiah Washington and Hamilton once again to have three first half passing touchdowns. The Trojans led 36-0 at halftime after gaining 294 yards and allowing the Warriors only 31 yards.

“We’ve been working on the passing game a lot in practice,” head coach Brick Crowder said. “We’re trying to do more of that as we get into the conference schedule.”

Logan Bullock scored the only touchdown of the second half in the fourth quarter to provide the final score. Overall, Crowder was happy with his teams performance, but believes there are things his team could work on going forward.

“We have to be physical and take care of the football”, Crowder said of the upcoming game against Northeast Academy. “It’s a conference game against Northeast and if we do both of those things, we have a good chance of winning.”

Similar to his head coach, Connor Williams enjoyed his teams effort and gave credit to his offensive line for playing well.

“We played well as a team,” Williams said. The offensive line blocked well and gave me enough time to find [Hamilton and Washington]. We just have to keep playing hard.”
