Another big night for Beamon as Cycs roll in home finale

A bizarre season that still has a chance to be a winning one for the Community Christian
eight-player football team took a sweet turn for the Cyclones on Friday night.
Playing their final home game, the Cyclones routed Pungo Christian of Belhaven, 54-34, to get their second win in five games. Senior quarterback Landon Beamon accounted for 352 offensive yards and six touchdowns while leading the defensive effort along with senior teammate Coleman Farmer.
Community Christian, which elected to leave the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association and become a true independent for this year, has two road games remaining. The first is against the combined Lawrence/Albemarle team that CCS already defeated once this season while the finale is at always tough Bethel Christian in Kinston.
The Cyclones didn't let Pungo Christian (0-5) think about getting its first win for long as CCS piled up 22 points in the first quarter and led 36-16 by halftime.
Beamon completed 7-of-12 pass attempts for 158 yards. His three Tds were all to junior Aiden Smith, who finished with 147 receiving yards. Beamon rushed 17 times for 194 yards and three touchdowns while Graham Norville added 75 yards and a pair of Tds on the ground.
Farmer led the defense with seven tackles while sophomore Matthew Jackson made six stops, all unassisted. Beamon made five tackles and recovered a fumble.
