Chargers press past Grace 64-52
SANFORD — On Tuesday, the Wilson Christian varsity boys basketball team conducted a practice devoted solely to defense.
It paid off handsomely Friday night on the road at Sanford Grace Christian.
Starting the season as a zone-oriented team, the Chargers trotted out pressure defense for most of the game and pulled away in the third quarter for a 64-52 victory.
The Chargers (2-2) generated 18 steals and got 13 deflections as a four-point lead at the half grew to a 55-38 lead entering the fourth quarter.
Senior Cody Taybron had 25 points, with sophomore Jimmy Forte posting a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Jonah Murr’s 25 points led the Crusaders (0-2).
Wilson Christian dives into North Carolina Christian School Association 2-A East Region District 3 play Monday as it travels to Raleigh Christian.
