From staff reports

It took seven games but the Wilson Christian varsity boys basketball team finally presented Kevin Zander with his first victory as head coach as the Chargers shut down visiting Halifax Academy 66-20 on Monday.

“Our boys continue to build character and improve on executing a game plan,” Zander said. “A great team effort starting with defense leading to offense. I am very proud of their effort tonight.”

Co-captains Harrison Parker and Zach Hunter each netted 15 points to lead the Chargers (1-6), while a third co-captain, Brice Murray, added 11 points.

The win provides Wilson Christian with a taste of momentum heading into Friday’s North Carolina Christian School Association 2-A East Region opener at Raleigh Christian.
