Knights shut out at Lawrence
MERRYHILL — Greenfield committed costly errors early and late and never managed to deliver a timely hit in Tuesday’s 6-0 varsity baseball loss at Lawrence Academy.
The Knights, now 6-8, committed errors in the first and sixth innings that led to Lawrence’s runs at the expense of senior starting pitcher Jake Taylor, whose record fell to 4-3. He threw all six innings and gave up three earned runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out one. Tyler Jones got the win for Lawrence.
Hunter Stokely was 2 for 3 with a double to lead Greenfield, which totaled seven hits.
“We could not string any hits together today,” said Greenfield head coach Daniel Johnson. “We left eight men on base and could not get the two-out hit we needed today. ... We played hard so we just got to regroup and be ready to play Thursday.”
Greenfield will host Northwood Temple Christian on Thursday night at 7 in Fleming Stadium.
