Defense shines through in Lady Chargers’ win
Head coach Brian Trull reported the Wilson Christian girls basketball team had “probably the best defensive effort all year” in a 40-13 win over Wake Christian on Monday night.
The Lady Chargers (10-3) held the Lady Bulldogs to single digits each quarter to allow its second-lowest point total on the season after holding Bethel Christian to just 11 points their previous time out.
While the lockdown defense shone through once again, the trio of Madison Carnes, Lea Gossett and Kayla Tant paced Wilson Christian on the offensive front with nine points each. As a team, the Lady Chargers shot 44% from the field.
Wilson Christian will be off until 2020, resuming play at Halifax Academy on Jan. 3.
