Knights blanked by top-ranked RMA 6-0

ROCKY MOUNT — A late-season tuneup didn’t go as well as hoped for the Greenfield School varsity girls soccer team in a 6-0 loss Monday at Rocky Mount Academy.
The Knights, defending NCISAA 1-A champions, dropped to 8-5-2 overall with just Thursday’s game at Wayne Country Day remaining in the regular season. It was the 17th victory without a loss for the Eagles, ranked No. 1 among NCISAA 2-A teams.
RMA scored three goals in each half and limited Greenfield to just eight total shots.

“They proved difficult to contain in the midfield third and we couldn’t generate enough goal scoring opportunities to really test their back line,” assessed Knights head coach Randol Mendoza.

Jeallen Holland made seven saves in goal for Greenfield.
