Surging CCS crushes Cresset 9-0

DURHAM — With the aid of hat tricks from senior Hailey Dail and sophomore Morgan Lane, the Community Christian School varsity girls soccer team required just over 44 minutes to excuse host Durham Cresset Christian 9-0 Monday afternoon.

The Lady Cyclones, now ranked No. 1 among North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A programs by N.C. Soccer Coaches Association, moved to 8-1 in winning their eighth straight game and improving to 3-0 in the Carolina Christian Conference.

Dail notched her hat trick within a 15-minute span, scoring in the first, 12th and 15th minutes to run her total to 22 for the season. Sophomore Anna Jackson assisted on Dail’s second goal.

Lane took over from there, putting away finishes in the 19th, 31st and 35th minutes. Jackson provided her second assist in the 19th, with eighth grader Tori Oliver helping in the 31st. Jackson added her own goal in the 39th, while senior Jordan London finished a Jackson assist with 10 seconds left in the half.

Following a handball in the box four minutes into the second half, senior Eulysa Giddings terminated the match with her penalty-kick goal.

Freshman Emily Boyette finished with two saves for CCS, which outshot Cresset on frame 18-2.
